Scott Rigell Wins Virginia Beach Debate!

Aug. 19, 2010 – Thursday evening a standing room only audience witnessed Scott Rigell easily win the first debate between the candidates for Congress in Virginia’s Second District.

The majority of questions centered around jobs and the economy. Other issues included the proposed closure of JFCOM; Military issues; taxes; the failure of the stimulus; and health care .

The incumbent, Congressman Nye, found himself playing defense all night. In a sluggish economy, Nye found it hard to defend his most recent vote in favor of increasing taxes on our struggling businesses.

Scott Rigell was quick to point out the incumbents failure to take a position on any of the bills in Congress ahead of the vote. Nye’s office has been known to state the Congressman is ‘undecided’ right up to the last-minute of the vote. Scott Rigell stated, “Clarity comes to Congressman Nye when clarity comes to Speaker Pelosi on the vote count,”. The implication being that, in an election year, and knowing Nye will find it very hard to protect his seat; he is sometimes allowed to vote more conservatively. This pattern has led some to say that Nye is not a ‘blue dog’ he is Nancy’s ‘lap dog’.

Rigell pointed out that by virtue of Nye’s spending so much time being ‘undecided’ it is impossible for him to actually ‘lead’. We need a Representative in Congress that will stand up and fight for us in Congress. This is something our current Representative has never done.

Scott Rigell, a leading businessman in the Hampton Roads area, was inducted into the Hampton Roads Business Hall of Fame earlier this year. A leader in his community, Scott and his wife, Teri, have homeschooled all four of their children. Scott, his father, and his son have all served in the Marines.

I’ll post a video as soon as one is available. Congratulations to Scott on winning the first debate with the incumbent Congressman.

‘Hear Our Voices’ will be hosting an Accomac Town Hall meeting on Thursday evening September 3 at 7:00 P.M. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room.book_BigGovernment2

All are invited.  Democrat, Republican, Independent, Libertarian, Constitutionalist, undecided or not even registered to vote – All are welcome!

This group was kind enough to extend an invitation to me and to my opponent.  I want to hear your concerns for the Eastern Shore.  As our unemployment rates soars higher, and our children return to school; while we all negotiate the traffic on Lankford Highway; it becomes even more obvious that we need a Delegate willing to make a real diffenence  in the legislature.  I will be the advocate for all our Eastern Shore families.

we the peopleWe’ll be discussing these issues and other  day to day issues that are important to all of us, so please come and bring a friend!

Very successful reception and Town Hall

Thank you to all those who helped to organize and also for those that misc. stuff 055attended the reception given by Dona Danziger of Clay Werks in Exmore.  Thanks also to Steve Milloy, author of “Green Hell” for making the trip out to the shore for this event.  Steve is the ‘Junk Science’ editor for Fox News.

We had a town hall style meeting with many excellent questions and comments from concerned Eastern shore men and woman.  Concerns about the Eastern Shore economy, jobs, zoning, Route 13 safety, and education dominated the discussion.

Many comments were made of the fact that my opponent has doneIMG_1491 nothing to address these concerns during his time in office.  Many believe the only reason he has now recently organized meetings about issues of concern to our residents is because he is being challenged.

We need a Delegate who will stand up and speak out.  One willing to be a true advocate for the Eastern Shore.  To protect our businesses and families from over regulation and higher taxes by government and to IMG_1507protect our family values from government intrusion.  I am willing to be that advocate for the Eastern Shore; for our families; for our businesses and for our Eastern Shore way of  life.

In a recent letter to his supporters, my opponent stressed how important it is that he is reelected so the Democrats have control during the next session because, “the Virginia House of Delegates is only six seats away from Democratic control, in this, the last election before redistricting.”  He has been happy to play the “middle of the road” line to the paper for fear of losing the Independent voters.  But make no mistake, he will be quick to further the party agenda of bigger government, more governmentIMG_1501 regulation and higher taxes that come with Democratic control.

We are witnessing this first hand in our Democratically controlled  Congress and White House right now.  Just how much larger do you want to allow government to grow?  How much are you willing to allow government to intrude into your life and livelihood?  How much higher do want your taxes to go?

The next event will be at Baysys on September 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.mScalley Danziger event 2. followed by a reception at the Parksley fire house.  Both of these events will be attended by our former Governor George Allen and his wife Susan Allen.  For more information visit my website at http://www.melodyscalley.com

I need your support to WIN on November 3rd, 2009.  Please visit my website and find out how you can help me get elected.

No, I am not ‘politically correct’.  There are individuals in BOTH parties that take issue with me because of this.  Those on my opponents side because it scares them when someone is not afraid to point out the obvious flaws in their party dogma and misguided beliefs; and those within my own party for the exact same reasons!

It is obvious that politics is a large part of the problem within ourwe the people government.   Paybacks for favors; appointments as favors; voting for BAD legislation due to an allegiance to a party instead of to the PEOPLE.

I am the first woman to run for the VA House of Delegates for the Eastern Shore / 100th District. ~ I am a Conservative, Constitutionalist, Libertarian Leaning, Independent minded Republican.  I do not fit neatly in a politically correct box.

We all want clean water and clean air; not only for ourselves but also for our children.  We do not have to forfeit jobs and our economic make donation smfuture to achieve common sense solutions.

Please visit my website and donate $5.00 or $10.00 today. http://www.melodyscalley.com  I need YOUR support!

Thank you,

Scalley Challenges Lewis to Weekly Debates

Eastern Shore Virginia Declare & Defend Rally

Wednesday’s edition of the Eastern Shore News carries a story by Carol Vaughn, following is an excerpt from the article:

Scalley was introduced by Accomack County Supervisor Wanda Thornton, who told the crowd, “government has lost touch with the people it represents”.

“You are going to wake up one morning and you’re not going to have any rights left,” she said, calling for a grassroots movement to elect Scalley and others who support limited government.

Scalley, an Eastville resident and owner of a title and settlement company spoke against nationalizing health insurance and called the national debt “generational theft”.

Scalley also said the next person elected to represent the 100th district in the General Assembly will have to address legislation that she said is detrimental to small business owners.

“Government must stop killing our jobs and regulating us to death,” she said, adding, “Our watermen will tell you how their livelihood has been hurt by govermnent regulation.”

“I care about the deer and I care about the tiger beetle, but if we over-regulate, there won’t be any people left on the Eastern Shore,” Scalley also said.

On one local issue — improving the safety of U.S. Route 13— Scalley said concerns can be addressed without zoning that stops businesses from locating on the, highway; she instead advocated installing more traffic lights, guard rails and rumble strips on the roadway.

Scalley also challenged her Democratic opponent, incumnbent Lynwood Lewis, to weekly debates between now and the Nov 3 election, saying, “I’m not afraid to do that.”

Help bring prosperity back to the U.S.A.!

Folks there a few very basic ways we can save this great country and it won't take another failed bailout! Corporations that have taken jobs oversees will come back in droves; you will take home your entire paycheck without deductions and the GDP of this country not only recover but be better than it it ever was! How? Just let your representatives and delegates know that you want them to pass the FairTax see http://www.fairtax.org for more info. Second, we really need to pass Tort Reform. There is a growing movement and many reasons for this. I'll have to expand on that later. Last, for now anyway, we can correct the shortfall in Health insurance in this country easily without turning it over to the government ~ as we all know anything the government tries to do they DO WRONG! but alas, more on this later too ;)
