I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. ~Winston Churchill

r = 1.5p + 0.5y + 1
What’s that you say? Oh, it’s just a little formula about monetary policy as suggested by John B. Taylor.
“In this equation r is the federal funds rate, p is the inflation rate, and y is the gap between actual and potential output. The federal funds rate is the interest banks charge one another for overnight loans of excess reserves and is the Fed’s key market tool for monetary policy.”

“B.A.R.F.”
You actually believe that your government can fix the problem that they created through bad policy by creating more bad policy and throwing money at the problem?? You are sadly mistaken.
Let the free market correct itself and bring investors back into the game by simply assuring investors their capital will not be attacked; cut and hold the capital gains tax and reduce corporate taxes. At least business minded people understand that corporate taxes are essentially a consumer tax. That every day citizens don’t understand that corporate taxes are actually a consumer tax (in that they are passed on to the consumer in the price of the product) further shows the lack of education in economics in this country. If you really want to increase the GDP, then you’ll just institute the FAIRTAX (see http://www.fairtax.org ).
But no, you believe the government can fix the mess they have themselves caused. This is one very simple example I will give you that you are wrong, naive and misinformed.
Today the powers that be on the hill have suggested the creation of a ‘Bad Asset Repository Fund‘ . . . and NONE of them noticed that the acronym is BARF!!! Ah, your government at it’s absolute finest. And to that I say, ‘Here’s Your Sign’.
I rest my case.

WOW! I’m going to have to work on pacing the show. I was overbooked again, but we had many varied and interesting topics.
Started the evening with Marc Moreno from Senator Inhofe’s office (OK) and the Senate report -
“More Than 650 International Scientists Dissent Over Man-Made Global Warming Claims” http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=Minority.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=2674e64f-802a-23ad-490b-bd9faf4dcdb7 Fact is that not everyone agrees with the farce of ‘man made’ global warming. Mr. Moreno is passionate in his view and that made for a lively discussion.
Mr. Moreno’s interview was followed by Pam Barefoot, of Blue Crab Bay. Pam is also on the Virginia Marine Products board and wanted to let our listeners know about the proposed Virginia Seafood Lover’s Plate.
Also with Pam was Wec Terry of Terry Clams and Oysters in Willis Wharf. With them via phone was Joe Cardwell the Seafood marketing Specialist for Virginia. For more information on the plate visit: http://www.bluecrabbay.com/plate.asp
After that segment we were joined by Cookie Francis, a fellow Northampton County Planning Commissioner with her take on the Board of Supervisors hearing on the proposed zoning ordinance from Tuesday night as well as a few other comments. Our phone lines stayed busy from folks AGAINST the ordinance. If there are actually folks in favor of it, they are few and far between. I’ll try to have phone line to make it easier for callers with different views to get in, I do want to hear from you! We also heard from Yvonne Bagwell. Ms. Bagwell is in the aquaculture industry and even she feels the proposed zoning ordinance is not right for Northampton County. Ms. Bagwell feels so strongly that the ordinance is wrong for the county that she has started a petition. You can find it at Antique Attics in Exmore, Little Italy in Franktown, Eastville Hardware and??
After the Northampton County segment we cut to my interview with Congressman Gohmert from the great state of Texas. Rep. Gohmert believes the remaining $350 BILLION in TARP funds should be given to each and every working American in the form of a two month tax credit. Let the taxpayers decide which companies they want to spend their money with instead of Congress throwing more money at the wrong companies! http://gohmert.house.gov/Article.aspx?NewsID=1365
Finally Dan Dise the President of the Tangier Watermen’s Association joined us to share some insight on the regulations that crabbers are facing on Tangier.
Yes, we ran out of time again! Next week during the National portion of the show we’ll be joined by Mark McKinnon of Public Strategies who will be presenting information on the ‘Employee Free Choice Act’ also known as ‘Card Check’.
Check back for the complete show schedule and THANKS FOR LISTENING!!! I’ve been limited on the number of calls I can take due to the limit in the phone lines but I think I’ve figured out a way to have one line dedicated so listeners will be able to call on a ‘pro’ or ‘con’ line on any issue. Otherwise you just end up waiting in the que or with a busy line. I’m working on it! Of course, if you can’t get through, (or are not comfortable speaking on the air) you can also Instant Message me from this site and I can read your message over the air.
Have a good idea for a topic or guest for the show? Let me know!
Now go “Pump Up The Volume”
